FLYING PICKETS CONCERT AT THE KFZ INSPIRED THE AUDIENCE |

On Wednesday evening, February 21st, the British acapella band Flying Pickets charmed more than 250 listeners in the sold out KFZ in Marburg. Because of the spatial conditions the magnificent atmosphere of a nice, intimate club concert developed immediately.
At the same time the vibes were hilarious, like at a summery open air rock concert.
The 5-piece vocal formation proved impressively that, while singing, they are still the measure of all things in the pop sector. On the occasion of their 25th anniversary year, the musical motto of their jubilee tour is "Changing Times".
Accompanied by informative, sometimes more objective, sometimes more cheerful-funny introductions it looks back on 25 years of world events and history of music.

From the beginning not only the excellent singing techniques, but also the agile stage show carried the audience, which was requested to join the singing over and over again, and was weaved into this special musical time trip.

In addition to original compositions such as "Working in The Coal Mine" they inspired with sophisticated interpretations of well known pop and rock songs of a fascinating spectrum, straight through all genres.
Paul Simons "You Can Call Me Al", was a first climax among many during the almost two hour show.
Leadvocals, background voices and bass-singing always harmonised in a multi-layered melody and sound tapestry, garnished with effective percussion or brass-section imitations of which one could hardly believe that they were generated merely by a human throat.
Time and again they received spontaneous applause.
At the same time, the acapella formation rearranged Robbie Williams "Let Me Entertain You" as impressively as the Backstreet Boys title "I Want It That Way" or Seals "Kiss by a Rose".
As an encore they sang their biggest success "Only You", with which the Britons had a No. 1 hit in the charts 1983 as the first vocal group ever.

Die britische A-Capella-Band „Flying Pickets“ verzückte am Mittwochabend, 21. Februar gut 250 Zuhörer im ausverkauften KFZ in Marburg. Auch aufgrund der räumlichen Gegebenheiten entfaltete sich sofort die großartige Atmosphäre eines kleinen, aber feinen Clubkonzerts.
Dabei war die Stimmung so ausgelassen wie bei einem sommerlichen Open Air-Rockkonzert.
Die fünfköpfige Vokalformation bewies eindrucksvoll, dass sie gesanglich noch immer das Maß aller Dinge im Popbereich sind. Das musikalische Motto ihrer Jubiläumstournee anlässlich ihres 25-jährigen Bestehens heißt „Changing Times“.
Begleitet durch informative, mal mehr sachliche, mal mehr heiter-komische Anmoderationen schaut sie zurück auf 25 Jahre Weltgeschehen und Musikgeschichte.
Nicht nur die famosen Gesangskünste, sondern auch die agile Bühnenshow riss das Publikum von Beginn an mit, das immer wieder zum Mitsingen aufgefordert und in diese besondere musikalische Zeitreise eingebunden wurde.

Neben Eigenkompositionen wie z.B. “Working In The Coal Mine” begeisterten sie mit ausgefeilten Interpretationen bekannter Pop- und Rocksongs in einer faszinierenden Bandbreite, quer durch sämtliche Genres. Dabei war Paul Simons „You Can Call Me Al“, ein erster unter vielen Höhepunkten der knapp zweistündigen Show.
Leadstimme, Background-Stimmen und Bass-Gesang harmonierten stets in einem vielschichtigen Melodie- und Klanggewebe, garniert mit effektvollen Percussion- oder Bläserimitationen, von denen man kaum glauben konnte, dass sie lediglich von einer menschlichen Kehle erzeugt wurden. Immer wieder gab es dafür Szenenapplaus.
Die A-Capella-Formation verarbeitete dabei Robbie Williams „Let Me Entertain You“ genauso eindrucksvoll wie den Backstreet-Boys-Titel „I Want It That Way“ oder Seals „Kiss by a Rose“.
Als Zugabe intonierten sie ihren größten Erfolg „Only You“, mit dem die Briten 1983 als erste Vokal-Gruppe überhaupt einen Nr. 1 Hit in den Charts hatten.
